Karapiro Kayak Racing Club is a new kayak club. We are based at the Karapiro Yacht Club at Lake Karapiro, Waikato.
The club has been formed by a group of local kayakers who regularly paddle together on Karapiro. We thought it was about time we got organised and made an effort to encourage more people into this sport.
We’ve seen the success of rowing at Karapiro, with hundreds of participants on the water. Kayaking offers a similar opportunity to get out on the water, improve your fitness and technique, meet some great people and have fun.
KKRC welcomes new members of all abilities, from teenagers to adults – including ex-rowers (who tend to make good paddlers)!
The club aims to make it easier for people to have a go at kayaking, by providing club boats and equipment, friendly advice and coaching.
By helping grow the sport of kayaking here at Karapiro we hope to make a name for Karapiro as a great kayaking centre, with our paddlers successfully participating at local, regional and national events.
